Long story short......the civic was running hot the other day and making no heat, changed the thermostat, still doing the same thing. Figured the heater core must be bad. Tore the whole f'n dash out, replaced the heater core and put the dash back in. Still doing the same thing, faaaaawwwwk. 7 hours for nothing. Let the car idle for a while and checked all the hoses, 2 rad hoses were ice cold. Scratched my head for a few minutes then removed the new thermostat. Let it idle again. Both hoses are warm. Brand new Advance Auto thermostat turns out to be defective, what a surprise. Warrenteed for a year but had to haggle with the manager for 10 minutes to get a new one. Dirty f'n pirate hookers can lick my taint.

when i had my car running i had the same problem. i picked up a new thermostat from AA and it was also bad. i didnt have a problem returning it though.
