Anyone know about sportbikes?

I'm considering something in a 600cc, (R6, GSX-R 600, CBR600, etc.) but I don't know a terrible lot about bikes and which are the good companies and which to avoid. For instance, I'd never buy a Chevy because they are plagued with problems and difficult to work on, but I would buy a Honda because they are reliable and easy to work on. I'd like to know, generally speaking, which motorcycle companies are the "chevys" and which are the "hondas". TIA!

Everyone has their opinions on which manufacturer is better, etc.

Personally, I would stay away from Yamaha and Kawasaki. The CBRs are smooth running bikes. I actually ordered a 600RR before I came across the deal on my Harley. The GSXRs are nice too, I just don't like their styling. The ass ends kill it for me. Center exhaust on the RR = sex.

How much experience do you have on a bike? What kind of riding are you hoping to do (ie...wheelies, tons of turns, etc.?) The 600RR is a freakin' razorblade in turns will stand up with some coaxing, but it's roots are definitely on the track.

center exhaust looks terrible in my eyes

like the new ninja's and whatnot. im partial to the R6 and GSX-R the new all black CBR's are sickning though. as far as bike wise i dont know shit. i would go for looks. hahaha

Suzuki owns, and Honda owns imo.

If I were to ever get a bike it would be the 600RR, love that bike. If you go Honda stay away from the new F4i's, they arent that great. The last gen. ones are OK. Pick up a Motorcycle magazine as they often have reviews and what not....

Excellent, that's the kind of info I'm looking for, so Suzuki and Honda are the better ones, eh? What about the Yamaha makes it a worse choice?

I don't have any experience with bikes, but I've been talking with some friends lately and I'm pretty stoked about getting one. I'm not going to get it and be all superman trying tricks and whatnot, but I'm going to enroll in a defensive riding course and general bike safety stuff first thing. I've been looking into R6s mostly but after hearing Yamaha doesn't have the best rep I'm leaning to CBRs..

suzuki, honda, and yamaha are all good from what i hear i have alot of friends with bikes...

With Suzuki you can do ne thing from the Busas, GSX series, SV series, katanas, and even the lower end GS5...

With Honda you are looking at the RCs, CBRs, ceptors, etc.... if your leaning to CBR's the CBR600RR is slighty more expensive then the CBR600F4i. but with the 600RR your going to have the higher rev at about 15g so your liquid cooled... good bike.

With Yamaha you got the VZFs and the FZs, the XT and the TW for more of a multiple purpose bike. if your looking into the R6 my friend has one and its a great bike, not a whole lot of more maintenece then any other bike, the adjustable PL's on the bike make the ride pry damn good,

Now for the CBR and Interceptor...hmm

The CBR1000RR is based off the MotoGP Bike, thus is has a 998cc liquid cooled engine. The CBR600F4i and CBR600RR both have 599cc motors. The 600RR however has the higher redline of 15,000rpm.

There are two Intercepter models, the Intercepto and the Interceptor ABS, the Interceptor ABS having an anti-lock braking system. The main thing that seperates them from the CBRs is that the Interceptors have a 781cc, liquid-cooled, vtec equipped, 90-degree V-4. Where the CBRs have a regular inline four. However the 600RR has an inverted front fork, light as hell, and it has a CBR1000RR-style swingarm and front brakes.

The CBR100RR and CBR600RR have a DSFI (Dual Stage Fuel Injection) carburetion system where the CBR600F4i has a PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection) craburetion system.
The Interceptors have PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection) craburetion systems identical to the 600F4i.

Damn dude you're good, sounds like the RR is worth the extra 500 bucks over the F4i!
