im not sure what happened to me, i think the 5-0 took the game from me. the import scene out here is nothing. but this place is a tourist atraction and car clubs and stuff roll out here to meet up sometimes but that's it. but my love and passion still lives on.

You grow out of the game. Hopefully...

There's a reason I respect people who restore and race the great historic sports cars. I just can't afford that right now, so I'll learn my modern technology before I eventually switch over to Euro cars (Audis to stay AWD cool) and then onto vintage Porsches. There is always the option of building a Porsche 550 Spyder and putting a WRX 2.0T (EJ20T) into it.

In closing, you don't so much grow out of the game, as the game matures with you. If you don't mature... well then your game stays the same. For some people however "the game" can mature to completely different catagories of cars, while for others they will simply reach the "pinnacle" cars of the import scene.

Good luck to everyone reaching their goals in the auto-scene.

agreed, if you don't give yourself a chance to grow with it, you're just wasting money. God I wish I had the money to work on my own porsche...

kinda, the thing is sometimes priorities change, personally i cant justfiy the costs of modding the hell out of a car where there are so many other more important things that i want in life. i am going to be selling my teg soon, should have a new car by december, if i can work the salesmen and get the payments to what i want them to be then i am probably going to pick up a used IS 300 instead of a TC since a G35 coupe is out of the price range

Temp, you're absolutely right. Any person in their right mind should put everything in their lives before this hobby. Everyone has to give it a rest for a while. Sometimes you never come back, while others continue to dream the dream of a specific car, with particular changes that can't and shouldn't easily be had. I hope you don't have to settle for any car you aren't happy with, even when you can't justify a particular dollar amount. It's always good to buy a car for it's chassis, hopefully with an engine you can make better (nobody wants something you can't improve). Good luck, hope to see some good news in the future.

I think you mature WITH the game and/or the game matures with the crowd.

ie...the style at one time with imports was huge wings, ugly graphics, etc. (to some...this is still the style). Now it seems that clean cars are getting more and more respect. Five years ago who would have thought that you'd see a Civic that resembled a Civic (let alone have stock bodylines!) on the cover of a magazine.

As far as someone maturing with the game...people may move onto other types of cars...but you are still in it for the love of tinkering with cars. You learn how to set goals through experience, etc.

as for myself...I can't see myself building a classic (even though I'd love to build a 1964.5-1968 Mustang). I'll build another import. I'd bury myself in debt more with a classic.

yeah, i mean i just want something more "mature" feeling and more luxurious while still being semi sporty and having decent suspension. the only thing that i have found like that in my price range is a IS300. plus having a supra motor (while non-turbo) is always a good start :P
