how did your car obsession start?!

Well my story is pretty much from the beginning of my life. Like most babies, they would play w/ their stuffed animals, but I would play and sleep w/ my mom's accord keys. My real dad (asshole) had an older toyota that he built but I wasnt old enough to remember it, so I guess my love of cars was from there...

At age 6, i pretty much knew any car you could point out. at age 8, I first saw the nissan (my nissan) in my grandfathers garage, I was amazed at its beauty. he said that he would give it to me but only if I went to college. (hes a "pro educational" person) obviously I agreed, and it was mine. I can still remember sitting in his garage shifting the gears like I was driving it. He would take me around in it, and would let me shift the gears, and I was pretty damn good too! He played a huge role in passion for cars today.

My mother always encouraged me when I would talk about cars non-stop. my mom has been single since I was 4, so idk how she even put up w/ me and my brother. in the summer of 2000, my neighbors threw a block party. my mom and current step dad met there, and he wasnt like most other people. he had 3 kids so he didnt just ignore me like most other people wouldve done. he also had a snowmobile and harley, so he was pretty cool. We met his kids later that summer, he had 2 daughters and one son, ( I was the same age as his son) and it pretty much seemed like the brady bunch.
In 1999 he bought a yellow mustang gt, and he pretty much got me into cleaning cars and going fast lol. He was the person who made me realize the fun of cars, and not just the looks. I learned alot from him, so that made me want to learn even more about cars.

as the years passed, got older and by the age of 10, I could drive a stick shift car quite well. my mom, step dad, brother and I took a vacation to flordia, where I rode my first gokart. less than a month after the vacation, my brother and I got gokarts. The gokarts showed me how to control and teach responsibility so I wouldnt kill myself in a real car. unfortunately, I just sold my gokart a month ago to help pay for my civic buildup...

at age 12, I entered the z into its first local car show. It won the popular choice for the stock class. It also won the year after...

by the age 13, I was still passionate about cars. I looked to find a cheap car that i could work on so by the time I was 16, i would have a nice car. I searched for 3 years, but no luck...

In the summer of 2006, I was out of grade school getting ready to be a freshman. I worked at a garage that fixes trucks for my grandfathers company. The guy I work w/ builds chevys in his garage. (nice ass garage btw) he introduced me to the whole technical side of cars and car building. after learning more and more, I decided to lok for a project car again. I was only going to spend a little on a car, but good luck striked...

My mom went down to the bank to see how much I had in the bank to buy a car w/. the lady that worked there told her that she could also withdraw the $6000 also... my mom had no clue what she was talking about so she asked, my great grandmother left money to everyone when she died. the bank was supossed to hold the money til I was 18, but they messed up the transaction so it said i could get it when i was 14!!!
I looked for cars for acouple months until I stublmbled across a 85 camaro w/ a 350 in it from a vette., it was imaculate. I was going to buy it but w/ the ohio laws it would be way too much to insure for a 16 yr old. acouple days later, my step dad found a 1999 honda civic dx at a local body shop his friend owns. he asked why it was in the shop, it was in for hail damage. My step dad told me about it so i went to look ar it, I fell in love. I bought it the next day...

ever since then, my passion has been growing and hopefully it wont stop...

I read the second issue of Import Tuner when I was fishing with my dad at Shaver Lake. I was 13. Now I'm in debt and have two cars that don't run, and buying a third. Great choice in hobbies Sean.

i grew up with one uncle that was a mechanic, another that painted cars and did body work and would always buy me model cars for christmas and my birthday, and another one that raced Fiat's for a while and has owned 5 or 6 Ferrari's throughout his life and owns 2 right now.

saw a 96-98 front hatch slammed on blades with an Ls-vtec swap at a cousins birthday BBQ when i was around 16, thats when those cars started catching my eye...saw a couple 96-00 coupes clean looking parked out front at raver one day when i went with a friend... one being a STI blue Si with real Mugen rims...MF10's if memory served correct....i had never seen it around. it was love at first sight...now 6 years later i still get that same feeling.

I have always been into cars. As a kid I would always watch the races on TV. NASCAR, F1, whatever was on.

In high school I got into the whole lowrider scene. I wanted hydros, and 100 spoke rims on my Chrysler Lebaron.

But it was when I graduated high school and was in college that my love of imports began. A friend of mine has a toyota supra, 2JZ-GTTE engine. The sound of that blow-off valve was so sexy.

But it really took off when I got my RX-7. That thing was so sexy, and so fucking fast. I loved that damn car. Been into it ever since

Got it from my Dad, who made my middle name "Colin" after Lotus founder Colin Anthony Bruce Chapman.

Used to religiously watch the Indy 500 before it was taken over by the IRL.

Got into F1, IMSA, CART, etc. but can only afford to run SCCA. Still get to go to Daytona 24 hours and F1 USGP every year but this one since I'm in the sandbox.

Been autocrossing since 17 (would've been 16 but didn't get license until 17). Just had a daughter, and continuing my dad's tradition, named her Elise.

i use to help my dad work on old sportscars as a kid, and go to all the car shows with him. so when i got older i liked how people were modifying hondas, so thats what i wanted. i read magazines like super street to get inspiration, and back then it was all ricey cars because the scene was just starting. For my senior project in highschool i rebuilt an old EF we pulled out of some guys lawn. rebuilt the brakes, pulled the tranny and replaced the clutch, fly, and PP, put polyurethane trailing arm, shift, and motor mount bushings in, then installed the typical I/E/H - for being a d15 it handled exceptionally well, thats when i knew my next car would be modified as well

Im a big LeMans fan so i appreciate functioning cars

That was my old buddies. We used to wash our cars in his front grass. His family owns a towing company in Visalia.

yeah... my friend knows Henry on a name to name basis...his Si was clean...sucked when it got totalled though...i talked to him once about a POS eg hatch i was trying to get rid of. He used to rock DOHC VTEC on the tow truck...now its replaced with a camp1320.com decal.

any yes banzy, i used to see your car parked on main street almost everyday, with the bandaid on your lip and and hucaps,.... when i saw your FMIC one day walking to colimas i was like..."oh shit that turbo FTW!"..my friend was like "what are you talking about"..lol
