Question? 99 Power Sunroof into a 1996 EK Hatch?

I have a question? Does anyone know or has anyone added a stock 99 civic sunroof into a 96 EK Hatch without a sunroof doing custome work?

I bought a 99 Civic Power sunroof for really cheap it's like brand new. I wasn't sure if it would fit but I took the chance anyways for the price

I called a couple places that said thay might be able to do it but they don't know if the roof will be able to hold the sunroof cause its made from a differnt metal and doesn't have the support?

Does anyone know if this fact is true?

Is it even possible to add a stock 99 Civic sunroof onto a 96 EK Hatch without a sunroof at all?

Someone please help me? Any suggestions would be great!!!

I know that cars with sunroofs have more reinforcing than those that don't.

IMO...I think you would almost have to take the entire roof from the Si and cut it to make it fit onto the hatch. I don't think there's any other way. I could be wrong, though.

Are you serious? Darn I really want this sunroof to work? i hope it's not too hard to do? but i understand you on the whole reinforcement issue.....I heard the same thing too from a shop that does sunroof installs

It's along the same lines as a convertible.

Convertibles weigh more since they have to have extra reinforcing due to the missing roof.

take the headliner down and look at the underside of the roof. if u can weld or someone else can weld then put up thin support beackets. hell if u put up a rollcage around the sides and braces across the middle out of the way of the sunroof it would work. but i think if you just add some thin bars or something of that nature to the roof to stiffen it up i don't think you'll have a problem. because if u tied the braces in with the door pillars and the a-pillars that would definately give it strength. be custome and get creative.
