I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

actually the CX is the lightest model. They both in 1992 weighed the same but if you think about it the VX has 9lb 13 inch rims, while the CX had heavy steelies.
Will work for an AE86!

CX is lighter, VX is better if you wish to swap, VX is pre-wired for vtec.

the VX is over rated IMO. (I have a '92 VX)
the lightness advantage of the VX is probably going to be destroyed anyway. Add a different set of rims and the VX will weigh the same as the CX/DX with the same mods. Add rear disk and upgraded front brakes and it's really close to what the SI weighs....

IMO this is the order I'd search out hatches for a project
'92-95 SI
'92 VX
'92 DX or CX
'93-'95 VX
'93-'95 DX or CX

reasons?
'92s are prewired for everything from the ECU to the shock towers.
the SI comes with rear disk and front sway bar
daily driver? a factory powered sun roof rules. :) (SI only)
VX comes wired for VTEC but you have to move a few wires around to work with a normal 4-wire setup.
