I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

d16y7 to d16y8 intake manifold swap... big problems

Post by hondalowlow » December 19, 2004

i got a y8 v-tec intake manifold.. it has TB and sensors.. i installed it yesterday and fired up the car and it kept going " waaaaa mmppttt waaaaaa mmmppttt" it wold idle from 1,000 rpm to 4 k " explain that one... so i changes the IAC " idle air control valve" and the same thing... i swapped the MAP sensors.. same thing i had to extednt he MAP and TPS sensors wires to make everything reach properly... but after all the changin around no luck the same thing... i was thinking vaccum leak... but al bolts were tight and new gaskets were installed... the car takes off like crazy with the type - r style y8 IM.

but then i put all of my stock stuff back on and it runs fine... what is causing the wierd ield and the spuratick.. up and down...? fill me in...

when my car did that i had a hose that wasn't connected. there's gotta be a vaccuum leak somewhere that's causing it, or something ur over looking. my leak was on the back of my IM and i had another one by the tranny but that was an old tube from when my car was auto that went to power the torque converter and it just needed to be plugged.

i remember reading something about the automatic y8 manifolds having some kind of holes(air injection ports) that needed to be plugged/covered/ filled-in/whatever... and if you don't do that, it would cause a rough idle... here are a couple links that might help... if you still need some help just search on honda-tech...
