I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Why would you want to swap in an older generation motor? Doesn't make much sense to me.

I don't much understand what your going to do with the engine. What engine are you putting into what car?

That picture looks like a normal OBD I harness to me...

this should be moved to Engine Tech

He is trying to put a D16Z6 (EG Si) engine into an EK chassis. He's weighing his options, being that the motor in the EK is possibly blown, the car is being sold with the EG motor included but not installed. He wants to know how much of a bitch it would be to put the OBD1 motor into the EK. If it's too much hassle (I expect it may be) then he'll be on the lookout for an OBDII motor.

It's possible to swap, and not all that hard with both wiring diagrams handy. I have an obd1 motor in my EK. It was my first swap so I had that against me.

Anyways, you're going to use the obd1 injectors, the obd2 harness, and the obd2 distributor guts. The plugs are all different on the sensors so you have to double check your diagram and splice, but for the most part they are in the same location on the pinout. Then you'll still need the jumper harness (since you'll have an obd2 harness and plugs) to run the obd1 ecu. In your case you'll have to wire the vtec too...I don't know what the pin # is for that. Mine's a B18b.

Good luck. I don't know if I was much help, but personally for what the motor is I would just buy a D16 for a few hundred and sell off the obd1.
