I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

ok, so i may have read the ecu wrong..do you check to see if its throwing codes after turning the key all the way(like when you start it)? or just turn it to 'on'?

cuz when its in 'on' its a solid red light, but goes away after i try to start it

help?

your car OBD I right? if your doing the 'paper clip' test then you only have to turn it to 'on'; even accessory i think will work to get the code IF your car is actually throwing a code. also if you replaced the battery it might have reset the ecu so it wont say what code it was throwing before unless it throws the same code again since you changed the battery.

You kinda got me confused though about what your mean about the check engine light turns off after you try to start. kinda sounds like every car where the check engine light is on then goes off after starting(as long as nothings wrong). Also if you have a ecu problem you may not be throwing a code so checking wont give you anything if that makes sense. could probally try and find an ecu on hondatech or something, probally cheapest bet if you end up going that route...

The light is going to stay red until you start it, that's part of the ecu's self test diagnostics that happens everytime you have key on, or key on engine running... If the light stays on once the car is started and running, that's how you know you have a problem.
