I was wondering today what the differences are between the EUDM and USDM B16A2 engine and the JDM B16A engines that means the 10bhp difference. Why does the jap engine make 10bhp more? |

10.2 compression compared to the JDM 10.4 compression. and more agressive cam profile. |

the EDM has 10 LESS HP (well the b16a1) i am pretty sure that is due to a different IM design and some less aggressive mapping in the ECU, but i am not 100% sure on that because i dont talk to many people in europe...maybe mr. b16a1 he can clarify |

Lemme see if I can shed any light on this: 1st gen EDM B16A = 150hp , due to detuned ECU and less-than-ideal IM design. 1st gen JDM B16A = 160hp 1st gen USDM B16A = never happened 2nd gen JDM B16A = 170hp due to 10.4:1 Cr (up from 10.2:1 in 1st gen) 2nd gen USDM B16A (B16A2 and 3) = 160 hp (emissions?) 2nd gen EDM B16A = I don't know for sure... Figured we needed to see that data in that format, can anyone confirm what I've written/ have anything to add? |

2nd Gen EUDM is definately 160bhp too. Same as USDM. Its odd why they did it. I mean 10bhp isn't gonna make that much difference to emissions and that. |

don't forget a couple of horses from the 108 octane them JDM peepz run in europe the max you can get is 99, which is hard to get... here in Holland we only get 95 and 98... Higher octane number means higher compression before det... det is the key here I think... timing and such can all be set more extreme if det stays out longer... why do you think the EDM (and prob USDM too) engines do NOT get the det sensor and the JDM do have them? |

both of the USDM engines have 10.2:1 compression thats why they are 160hp only (well thats part of the reason) and thats related to what b16a1 said about octane |

B16a1, do you get Shell Optimax in holland and if so you ever used it? Its ment to be 98.8 octane. |
