i would like to throw my 3 cents in. Cheap alternative to the infamous SR. For modest power levels, the CA18 is perfectly robust. 8.5:1 compression. Consider a leakdown test before delivery. The U.S. market s12 200sx and n13 pulsar nx were both available with related engines. between the single cam CA18ET and n/a CA18DE most service parts can be found in the U.S. In all, the CA18 is a great choice if power goals arent absurdly high, and low initial cost is highest on your priority list. |

his name is doug, he means for a 240sx. should he do it? Its a mistake, hes a newbie, thats what newbies do. As for power, Ive heard Japanese tuners have head gasket problems past 300whp, and stretch head bolts past 350whp, but thats what Ive heard. |

Could you then replace the head bolts with stronger, aftermarket ones and replace the headgasket with an aftermarket one? |

I have never looked into aftermarket support for the motor. However, it is there and with growing 240/ SR swaps, I promise, its popularity will increase. It should be capable of 400+ horsepower with all the right parts. All I know is that with stronger gaskets, head bolts were stretched past 350. And would be first CA swap in a 240 that I know of in jax. |

the same can be said about the SR headgaskets.if u plan to run the t28 BB turbo on the car and make some decent power u have to replace the headgasket with a metal one, which will run u anywhere from 200-400 dollars.then u gotta replace the studs.but u just use the ARP headstuds for a integra LS motor. the CA motor is decent, but just for simplicity's sake i would do the SR swap,or if u wanna try and be a little different do the SR20VE swap |
