I came upon this site a few months ago and it really helps when trying to get a good compression using OEM Honda parts. So for anyone trying to stay cheap on internals but make good power, this will help. http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/comp ... mpcalc.php Just for reference the thinner the head gasket the higher the compression, due to the head being closer to the block. So if u get an insane compression just put on a thicker HG, and check the outcome. -Eric |

Yes, To explain it more. When you put a thinner headgasket on. The cubic centmeters (cc) of the combustion chamber gets smaller(aka head is closer to the the block/piston). Now, this does look good and all and the performance is better, but as your head gets closer to the block, your timing belt gets looser. Now, you will only see a problem when you mill your head a lot, but these are things to think about. Also when you run a milled head and/or a thinner gasket, your valves are now closer to the pistons. With a high lift cams, this can spell danger. a little food for thought. |

I think that he is talking about that those kind of calculators are not very accurate. I prefer the dial indictor method (and CCing of the head) then the clay method. |

It's fun for playing around with though! I found the highest possible CR with that calc. :13.28 PCT pistons GSR head LS block 1 layer HG (duh) 81.25 bore |

Civic Type R I believe. I have a set sitting right next to me OH BTW, my setup is: PCT pistons (Civic Type R) B18C5 head B16A block 1 layer headgasket (Mugen metal headgasket) 81mm bore =11.62 compression w00t! |
