I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain
d16y8 idle problems
d16y8 idle problems
so i recently swapped a y8 for my y7 and now it will not idle right. I have checked everything and i have no idea what it is. It does the idle surge thing where it will go from 2500-1500 back to 2500. Its really annoying. I have taken it to a couple mechanics near me and they have no clue what it is. Some people say its the IACV or the MAP sensor but i have no clue. Help me out if you can.
Dont you have to rewire the IAC because the y7 uses a rotary three wire iac like a auto car. And the y8 iac would have the regular 2 wires, maybe that could be your problem.
Also reset your ecu for a few hours, that worked for me once.

i swapped the y8 in and the engine was a auto y8 with no iavc so i kept the y7 TB and installed it and no wire changes were needed

Well i have tried everything and i dont know what else to do. I put a new tb, new tb gasket, different intake mani, new tps, new ecu, i have tried everything i can think of and i cannot get the damn thing to stop idling crazy it bounces from 2k-3k. But the other day i had it running and stuck my hand over the intake and completely blocked it. You would think it would just shut itself down but i had my hand completely plugging it and it idled down to a smooth 800rpms, perfect. So judging from that there is a massive vaccuum leak somewhere. Could the head be cracked? Or is it because that is an air injection motor and i dont have the air injection blocked off properly? Any help is appreciated.
have you solved the problem? i had the same problem in my d16z6....take the intake off, the bottom valve in the throttle body, put your thumb or finger over it, if it solves the problem (idles correctly) its your fast idle valve, which sits below the throttle body (has 2 coolant lines running thru it)
