I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

I have a stock D16 in my car right now. I wont more power of course but with university i cant swing a swap so i am just wondering what i can do to gain some power. i have also considered getting an ex head and going vtec then turboing it but i dont know. what sort of power could i get with the turbo D16 or what else could i do to get some power. any help would be good.

vtec head would be a great start.

Are you sticking to the D or do you plan on swapping down the road?

From what I've read (after a lot of research) it seems that the stock rods can only take 270-300whp reliably. Of course that's only what I've read, and not from my own personal knowledge.

I've been running a turbo'd D16Z6 for a year or 2 now and its being doing fine. Its on 9psi....221.5whp and 175.9ft/lbs, I havent had any problems with it yet and it gets driven hard. I've read the stock internals on Z6's are good for 230-240whp before they become unreliable and start to bend and break but i've heard of a few people pushing them to around 260whp without any problems. I assume your running a Y7, im not real familair with those but you would think they are along the same lines as the Z6. Like munster said a vtec head swap would be a good starting point, you can do that for a few hundred $$$, then if you need more you can always boost it.
