I have a stock D16 in my car right now. I wont more power of course but with university i cant swing a swap so i am just wondering what i can do to gain some power. i have also considered getting an ex head and going vtec then turboing it but i dont know. what sort of power could i get with the turbo D16 or what else could i do to get some power. any help would be good. |

vtec head would be a great start. Are you sticking to the D or do you plan on swapping down the road? |

From what I've read (after a lot of research) it seems that the stock rods can only take 270-300whp reliably. Of course that's only what I've read, and not from my own personal knowledge. |

I've been running a turbo'd D16Z6 for a year or 2 now and its being doing fine. Its on 9psi....221.5whp and 175.9ft/lbs, I havent had any problems with it yet and it gets driven hard. I've read the stock internals on Z6's are good for 230-240whp before they become unreliable and start to bend and break but i've heard of a few people pushing them to around 260whp without any problems. I assume your running a Y7, im not real familair with those but you would think they are along the same lines as the Z6. Like munster said a vtec head swap would be a good starting point, you can do that for a few hundred $$$, then if you need more you can always boost it. |
