So.... someone want to tell me if these open ports should be connected to something, and if so what? I believe they're for coolant lines... I can't imagine this is helping my idle issues:

yes those are for coolant lines, and yes that can cause your idle issues. :D

I believe those circulate coolant through the throttle body, head (or somewhere close to it) during cool startup (as in cold nights and winter). I don't see how it would have any issues with making your car idle erraticaly. Only thing it would do is maybe not allow your car to engage in v-tec for a little longer until engine warms up.

how long has this motor been in your car?...and has it ever idled correctly?

Actually, rock on, that makes a lot of sense. My car won't ever go into vtec until it is warmed up and I never understood why.

The erratic idle hasn't been forever, it started the middle of last season. I'm in the process of swapping out the o2 sensor and pcv right now.

Motor has been in the car as long as I owned it, I know it's not the original. Supposedly only has like 60k miles on it, I know that compression showed 210 across all cylinders.


***I also believe the idle has always been high though, like minimum of 800rpm.

the FITV is called the fast IDLE thermo valve for a reason guys. it regulates the idle. go to that thread its got a pretty good descrption of what you need to do bub.

I don't have any surging issues until warmed up though, my issues are AFTER it's warmed up. Thanks for the link though Nikku.

it still can be related to your FITV not being installed properly. have you also checked all your vacuum lines? timing?

if u have adjustable timing gears double check those.
