Post subject:  battery/power prob.

im gonna say its a weak battery thats causing this because its still the stock battery from 99..

anyways for the past 2 days my car has been running like total crap, its been almost stalling out completely at every stop i make, i gotta give it a lil gas to keep the rpms up.

so the other day i come home and let it idle in the driveway, it picks up and seems fine. turn the car off and go in the house for about 10-15 minutes... go back out to the car to do some running and nothing. the car wont even turn over or anything. pop the hood and jiggle the battery terminal and wala.. power. strange.....

so i drive to my first stop turn the car off do my thing come back out... same deal, nothing no power, jiggle terminal and wala... power.

so i come back home and pop the hood tighten the terminal down nice and tight, infact its as tight as it will go its on there good.. head back out to finish my crap, come back out of wherever i was.. same deal no power. go try and jiggle the terminal.. wala.. power..

ok so im guessing its the battery it needs slow charged, see if it can keep a charge. cause im sick of having to keep popping the hood and jiggling the wres to get the car to have power. im also sick of the horrid idle it has when i stop.. im thinking, since its a 7 year old battery to just go and get an nrg cell and be done with it cause thats what i want... but im still kinda weireded out that it needs jiggled to get power. whats your thoughts?

if your battery was low, jiggling the wires wouldnt majically make it have charge. sounds like its a bad connection somewhere along the lines since your alt keeps power when your car is running. idk...gettin a new battery would be a good idea anyways, but sounds like its something else to me

bad connection? Is there a lot of corrosion on the terminals?

no. terminals were fine. the car has been running and starting fine as of lately.

honestly sounds like a short somewhere and the bumps and vibrations of driving cause it to cut in and out

it could be acid up inside the terminals, sounds to me like the terminals on the end of the wires are shot or corroded. Boil some water and hit that fucker with some baking soda! If you need help with me, let me know, I'm only a 1/4 mile away brah.

I'd say replace the battery just due to the age of it regardless of if it's the problem or not. NRG cell sounds like a good choice
