I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Head Gasket

Post by hondalover » August 17, 2006

My head gasket is blown on my b16a3, and i was wondering i can get a new in the box mugen head gasket today off of a friend for 75 bucks. But the only problem is its for a B18 type r engine. I was wondering if it would still work or not? He said it still would but, i need another answer cause he might just wanna get rid of it since he dont have his car anymore.

I've heard of leaking issues when trading off, but I have also heard that they are the same. I can't confirm either one though

I got on Autozones website and did a gsr and a delsol vtec and the part numbers were the same for the head gaskets so im guessing it will work. It doesnt matter though i found out the oil is coming from the cam seal and distributor not the head gasket it was just running down making it look like the head gasket. So that will be a cheaper route anyway

The ITR and b16a heads are essentially the same; just different cams, valvetrain, and a mild P&P on the ITR head. It will work fine, with no problems (unless it's an installation error of course).
