I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

brake setup for Civic Si?

Post by blingin' civic » April 07, 2004

what are you guys running?

I want to get new rotors and pads all the way around on my 2000 Si , and was wondering what was good. I am thinking about going with Hawk pads, but what about the rotors? are they all pretty much the same, or are some better than others?

I am hoping to spend around $300 give or take. Let me know what you guys suggest.

also, with the Brembo's.... what the difference between zinc coated and gold zinc coated rotors? just the color of the them?

I have heard that drilled rotors are prone to cracking. The slotted ones seem to be fine. If you get power slots your dealer should be able to recommend a pad based on the type of driving you will be doing.

I actually just picked up a set of PowerSlot rotors and some Hawk HPS pads. :) I will hopefully get them on within the next couple of weeks.

powerslot rotors....hmm i had a horrible experience with those, anyways....make sure you properly break in the pads and rotors, i would have recommended just getting brembo blanks but you already made your purchase, so when it comes time to resurface (which you pretty much cant find someone to do to a slotted rotor) get brembo blanks, the hawk pads were a good choice, i would recommend some DOT 4 brake fluid (i am partial to ATE Super Blue DOT 4) and some braided SS brake lines

yeah, i am curious as to what experience you had with the powerslots also. Everyone that has them that i know loves them.

Plus, getting Hawk pads they recommend getting Powerslot rotors to match with the pads.

they warped fast as fuck, although that was partially the pads that were used, still the fact of the matter is.......i dont like powerslot.....you should just stick with brembo blanks because its hard to find a place that will actually resurface the slotted rotors and blanks are cheaper
