i need to replace some tires before i head back to school. my problem is i dont know what my choices are since im running a 14in wheel now. i only need 2 tires, but i may opt to get all 4 done. ok, i searched tirerack (just for some options) and came up with these tires for the hx wheels: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compa...mp;x=24&y=8 my needs, i dont race, but i do drive with haste. i make many trips b/t school and home (3hour drive each way) so road noise does have importance. and i live in FL, so no snow, lots of heat, and lots of rain during the wet months(like now) and i have a buddy who is gonna do them for me, so im not even sure what tires he gets deals on (but the ones he showed me looked hideous, sidewall look on the rim and the tread design) so im asking for some input on what choices i should look at, and if you know of some other tires not listed, please share. and also, do you think its better to get all 4 done, or just get the 2 (b/c 2 of mine look damn near new) |

The tire rack link wasn't working for me, but if you can get Michelins or BFG control plus (regular controls are discontinued) in the size you need, that would be awesome, especially the Michelin harmony. Harmony's have 680 treadwear and low noise. If they don't make those in HX size try the Michelin Energy MXV4 plus. I forget the treadwear rating on those but they wear nicely and balance well too. Don't cheap out, whatever you do, buy a name brand tire. They are less likely to separate, blow out, etc than the el-cheapos. Plus Michelins are smooth on the inside, and therefore easier to repair should you pick up a nail. A reminder - keep the air pressure in check! So important. Let it go too low, and the sidewall's extra flexing heats it up and then you have a blowout. Just looking out for ya man, I don't mean to sound preachy. |

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1. ... &x=19&y=20 ^correct link, my bad. my sisters friend was at first putting dayton tires on, but i told him i didnt like, so know he told my mom (doing her tires as well) he has her tires and the other kind i wanted ready. i just dont know what the "other kind" are. like i said, i just need some options b/c i dont want the daytons, so i need to see what else he can get. the kumho ecsta are priced nice for being grand touring tires, as well as the sumitomo for being rated as high performance and also having a choice that is not an all season tire (which got my attention b/c i dont need all season in FL) im just trying to get this done for under $200, and w/ the michelins being $80/tire, im gonna weigh my options first. |
