Since I know its the axles now, and have purchased brand new ones. none of this refurbished junk. Is there a write up anywhere on how to do this. I know it cant be too hard. Take off the wheel, dissassemble the brakes and what not, but it would pretty easy if there was a step by step write up. I havent found one so far, anyone know of where there would be one? take off wheel, get socket, shoot off axle lug nut, shoot off the nut from the bottom of the knuckle (cant remember what it attaches to exactly), unbolt fork, get axle out of splines from hub, get pry bar, remove axle. thats it. |

Best thing to do with the lower balljoint is take out the cotter pin, take off the castle nut, put a bar on top of the arm and hit it with a hammer straight down. Will pop right off. Then take off the fork, etc. You'll see what you need to take apart when you get into it. You don't even have to dismantle the brakes. Just take the two 10mm off of the bracket on the line so when you swing the hub out of the way you don't yank on the line. |

ok hmmm, hopefully this is easier than i think its going to be.... what exactly holds the axle in place..... i know im sounding retarded, but i am actually mechanicly sound. I just want to know as much as i can before i yank my axles out...especially cus its my only car and it cant be down for more than a day. thanks again |

the axle nut, if you take off the center caps of your rim you will see the axle nut right between the lug nuts, and yes you need a pry bar or else it will be a PITA and you will probably break some flathead screwdrivers |

gotcha, so on the wheel side, only the axle nut is whats holding it in place. What about on the hub side? |

wheel and hub side are the same thing....on the inside is where you need the pry bar (tranny side or the intermediate shaft side) |

ok, gotcha, on the tranny side is there any bolts or is it just pressure thats holding it in there? |

there is a c-clip on the axle that once its put in the tranny locks it into place, so its that and pressure that holds it in....so get yourself a pry bar and have at it hoss  |
