| Post subject: | Brake bleeding question? |
Took off my front Calipers and replaced my front pads/rotors. Never touched my rear brakes. So, ill be bleeding my fronts, but do I need to bleed my rears too? I'm assuming i do since its a complete closed system and air most likely got to my rear lines. can anyone confirm this before i waste time on it for nothing? |

is this on your 00' em1? Your car should have a diagonal split system which connects LF brake and RR brake and RF with LR on the same part of the MC. Your goin to have to bleed all 4. Just get a piece of rubber hose and a jar of brake fluid, stick the hose in thefluid and then have a buddy crack the bleeder while u pump the brake pedal...If after that u still have spongy brake pedal, try doin it again, but vigerously actuate the brake pedal to help dislodge air bubbles. you also might have a Pressure differntial switch that while bleeding will turn on ur brake warning light. If this happens...post up and ill let u kno how to solve it. SS SS |

Thanks for the reply man! i did some research and found that they are diagonally connected. Makes sense that way if you lose a line, you dont lose all braking power. btw, this is for my '03 Accord V6 but i think it works the same way. If i get any brake CELs on my dash ill be sure to post up, but in the mean time maybe you can post up how to solve that problem anyhow? thanks again Tim |

thats how it works...now when your bleeding, you create a pressure difference which moves the sensor grounding out the circuit and turning the light on. Basically to get it to turn off, u have to keep bleeding one side to the other while someone sits inthe car and tells u when the light turns off. It might take 2 min, or an hour, just depends on if u get lucky. also, you prolly need to bypass ur metering valve if u have drums in the rear. SS |
