The Project-ED9 was an interesting car. Well, correction: interesting CARS. The project first started out back in May when my one friend blew his engine in his 91 Civic DX hatch. He bought a 91 CRX DX from a friend wit ha blown tranny...but good engine. Over general convrsation we got talking abotu the car and we wnded up buying the rest of the car from him a week later. It was a complete 1991 CRX DX sans an engine and both seats. It was 100. So we took that back to my buds house and we got to work on her. We got a 98 Civic DX engine from a local guy for it. About a month later I was browsing a CRX forum I go on sometimes. I noticed a guy GIVING AWAY a free 1990 CRX Si. I thought it seemed suspicious...but I didn't care; it was free. So we started talking to him and on the last day of school we left for Massachusetts. The next day we brought it back. It was exactly as he said...free. The only catch was there was no engine bay (literally) and some of the interior. Luckily we had most of the engine bay from the DX and we also had a dash and the resr interior from the DX...so we were set. It DID include 2 CRX Si seats as well as the Si door panels. We wanted those anyway. The only real downside was the fact that he gave us rear drum instead of rear disc because he has 2 other CRX's and he put the discs on one of the other ones. We were originally going to just use the Si for parts for the DX but then switched the DX to parts car designation and used the Si for the real project...so it was then the Project-ED9 instead of ED8. We then scoped out the local junkyard and to our suprises we saw a ZC engine laying in a CRX HF. Score. A few hundred dollars later we drove out wit ha ZC engine in the back of a truck. So we're now in the process of rebuilding the ZC. Within a month the CRX shoudl be completely drive-able and legal. We're also selling the DX (what's left of it) to a guy for 200...profit bee-hotches.
Future Plans?
* Get ZC in there
* Get radiator, battery and hoses to get car running
* Repair rust at local tech school
* Respray car in black, teal (EG Civic style teal), or burnt orange
* Get OEM EK style Honda Civic HX rims (14") and spray them black
* Get better Si seats
* Swap to rear discs again
...much much more...
