I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

went to my parents today and found these... 56k beware.

jdm delivery wrote:i had a class last semester about appropriate technology and one of the big topics of the class was alternate energy sources. one of the sources were these windfarms. there are a bunch of poeple who are saying that they are eye sores and what not and that we should just keep to coal and natural gas power plants... thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard. i really dont think theyre that big of eye sores, people are just looking at them the wrong way. yeah i mean they dont look liek supermodels or anything (it would be sweet if they did tho) but would you rather look at huge coulds of coal smoke and steam from cooling towers? i wouldnt. furthermore i find this to be a key element to cleaner enery and another step away from our national dependance on fossil fuels. the only real downside of this is that birds fly into them and die, but the way i see that is birds die anyway and once theyre around long enough they will figure out not to fly into them. ok i'm gettin off my soap box now. jude where are they in portage? i wunna go check em out. i saw the ones in sommerset. what are everyone elses thoughts on wind power?
when you leave portage and head towards blue knob ski resort, there on toop of the mountian before you drop off of it to turn right to go to blue knob. there fuckin huge you cant miss them. i think ray charles can see those bad boys. there just neat to watch spin and going up close to them. coal resourse will run out someday and well be fucked. so i say YES to wind!.

Ashley has a map of the US and state by state that shows the appropriate areas with winds significant enough to power a windmill. The downfall to some of the wind farms is that they're in locations where the winds are good enough, but they're far from the major metros that need the power. So they lose some of the power in transit needing more windmills.

If I told Ashley this topic was on thejdm she'd flip and give some 20 page lecture.

acully ecah blade is not 1.5 million there about 300k for all 3 and it also depends on the process what was made.. like our first few blades the new builders made wasn't the bestest of all best so they sold them a lil cheaper the whole assembaly including for them to build the whole structure is about 2 million dollors... when i work they fly them above us to move them around on hug as cranes... and also when we build them everything is metric so we go by MM and kilo's ect... i already had times when me and my supervisor was moving a blade and the tip broke off... i will try in the futre to get a few pics inside the plant along with pics of cranes inside we used and the different process i do to make the blades... 1 more thing i went back to the roots department one time and helped them out there is i think 92 bolt holes that hold the blades to the base and when i was torqing each bolt down it was 5kPSI each bolt hole!! we used a inpact gun to tighten bolt then there is this air thing in between we use and pump air in up to 5k psi talking about being scared when doing that... they said only 1 time in 10 years a hold was not strong enough and it blows that device i use through the wall and all!! haha i will try to get pics tho for u guys!
