I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

lowering compression question

Post by hondalowlow » July 02, 2005

i just picked up a d16y8 the head is fully built and i tore the bottom end apart tonight.
everyhting is brand new. pistons and all but the rod bearing is shot in #1 cyl. anywho

im going to run a t-25 turbo on it with about 6 - 8 psi max how can i lower the compression with out getting new pistons.

the 96-00 HG are 3 layer steel headgaskets
someone once said to double them and it will drop it 8-5-1
but anrt y7-y8's 9-5-1

please fill me in and if you know if any write ups on compressions please pos them. thanks

Just leave the Cr as is if you're only going to run 6-8 lbs.

Yeah, you'll make more power with higher compression, the only reason you lower the compression is to run higher boost, You could run 10lbs on stock compression.

It would be difficult to do either at 6-8 lbs.

Agree'd, a local shop's 'beater car' is a turbo D16 civic that runs 10lbs daily on a completely non-built engine, not so much as a gasket replaced. And he runs a 35 shot on top of the boost.
