I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

92 Civic Swap

Post by tenchu » September 17, 2003

Hey, B16a into a 92 sedan/coupe, possible? Also, Vortec supercharger any good for that engine?

http://www.jdmpower.net/b16a1.html Thats the engine I found

and:

Civic Si B16A Supercharger - Aftercooled
- Adds 117 horsepower and 64 ft/lbs of torque
- Operates at 8-9 PSIG
- Includes V-5 SQ G-Trim supercharger and Maxflow Powercooler
- Satin (020SQ) or Polish (028SQ) finish
The increased boost level, high output supercharger system, features a fully integrated air to water aftercooler approach to charge cooling. Vortech chose the air to water system primarily because it closely maintains the boost level found at the compressor. Fuel and ignition system modifications are similar but different from the non-aftercooled kit. Increase Horsepower to 277 and torque to 175 ft/lbs.

A B16 into an EG is totally possible and quite simple. As far as the supercharger...I personally wouldn't do it. The thought actually crossed my mind at one point in time, and I decided to go turbo.

I like turbo too, but what would you say the advantage of going turbo over super is? And what about a B16B? Little more difficult I assume?

a B16B is really not worth the money compared to just doing a B18c5 swap.if u are really wanting to boost a hybrid 5th gen then have u thought about doing a LS swap into the car?just drops right in,no wiring needed.

Are you buying that exact engine on that site? Because if you are thats a first gen B16A wich has a cable tranny and wont work with your car. you would have to buy a Hydro tranny and but that on.

if you are going to go with a supercharger, vortech is the way to go. jackson racing superchargers cant really handle anymore than 10psi, cant be intercooled, etc. whereas vortechs can. superchargers are much easier to install/tune than a turbo it. in the end though, if you looking for max power, ie. 400-500+, turbo would be the way to go. if you want ease of install and tuning and reliability (with not much work to acheive it), go with the vortech. as far as the b16, its a very common swap for civics. just do a search and you'll find plenty of swap guides around on the internet.
