neither did i really until one on a car that was built at our garage went. then i did a search on the EMS message board and found a few other people have had it happen too. but then again everything goes bad. no such thing as a bulletproof item.

first bar is used for vacum measuring i thought, thats why 3 bar = 29.4 psi since the first isnt read, or something like that.....

or atmospheric calibrations.... not sure though, i have only used the aem sensor and a couple ems i installed a while back. GM boost solenoid rocks though!

1 bar is measured above atmospheric pressure.

Boost is pressure minus absolute pressure.

10 lbs boost pressure = 24.7 lbs absolute (assuming 14.7 atmospheric)

3 bar = 14.7 x 4 = 58.8 absolute = 44.1 boost

righteous, i had always thought/ been told that the 3 bar had to use the first bar in order to calibrate the atmospheric pressue ie. 3 bar= 2 bar of boost reading + 1 bar/atmospheric

^^^ I think your right. Since the engine is normally getting air from the atmosphere at 1 bar, 14.7, if any extra is going to be added the computer needs to know to make the proper adjustments , without the 3 bar sensor the computer will still only be giving the engine enough for 1 bar.

blah, its hard for me to explain especially online. But in terms of 'turbo', lets say, a 2 bar map sensor would only be good for 1 bar of extra boost .....i think...
