I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

need help with motor mount bolt

Post by sfc » September 24, 2004

So anyone messed with their motor mounts? Long story short, the drivers side lower on my car was completely shot... I was trying to put in motor mount inserts. Somewhere along the line, the old bolt fell out, so I ordered a new mount and bolt since both had to be replaced. Fast forward to today they finally came in. Now the bolt is completely slack in the mount... like it's got a lot of play. Is that bolt supposed to fit snugly in the mount or should their be play like there is? I'm assuming it should be tight since the mount itself obviously has slack... but I'm unsure. I really don't want to have to wait another week as it's obviously not good for the car having the motor move as much as it does. Anyways, I can take pics if needed to show what I'm talking about, lemme know :)

bolt is round, hole is round :) Bolt is significantly smaller (in diameter) than hole.

It's been a while, but I think there's a big washer/spacer that goes in between the mount and the bracket on the engine. It should fill the hole so the bolt fits perfectly. Does that sound right to anyone? I need to mess with mine today so I'll let you know what it looks like.

naw, there is the washer, I got it all installed today. Annoyingly enough, I put in poly inserts as well, one of the zipties already busted... gaydar! The thing was the bolt itself could jiggle around in the motor mount, so I was concerned it would be sliding that way, but when it was all tightened down, that bolt doesn't move an inch.
