I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Clutch or trans?
Today i had to do some running around and when i was leaving Wal-Mart i put the car in reverse and it made a nasty clunk. i knew it didnt sound good but i had to get home so i strated to leave the parking lot and every gear when i would let the clutch out would do the same thing. i was almost home when i was going up a hill in 3rd gear and it felt like it wanted to come out of gear? what would this clunking sound be and why would it the clutch be slipping when at half throttle? any insite would be great.....thanks in advance! oh yeah its a 99 B16B. if it is the trans anyone know how much something like that would cost?

i was thinking syncro's as well because mine were going out in my EG when i had it. they usually make a crazy griding noice when u try putting it in gear though. im not sure about the clunk though.
check the motor mounts make sure the motor isnt moving? my buddy's motor was moving and it was making terrible banging noises when he would shift. make sure everything is tight.

I don't know exactly what it would be, but I would definitely separate the tranny from the motor and look around. Check the pilot bearing, throwout bearing, etc.
Did you put a new clutch in when you swapped it?

hey john its funny you said that about the mounts......that was the problem...i found the mounting bolt in the road this afternoon when i had to go out again. that is why it felt like the clutch was slipping because the motor was moving and pully the shift linkage. so to answer munsters ? no i didnt replace the clutch but i will be in the very near future. not sure what to go with but i am either getting the Toda or Mugen clutch. just to keep everything the same. i know some are saying its gay but dont be haters
...haha...peace out
