Post subject:  VTEC Light!!!

Hey guys, Im new to the site. I have been tryin to figure out how to hook up a VTEC light in my 01 EX Civic. Does anyone have an idea?

I have tried doing it by hooking it directly to the VTEC solenoid but that doesn't work. I have also tried the wire inside the dash behind the glove box, that doesn't work either. Any Ideas? please help me out.

Gayest Idea EVER! Why do you need a light? You can't distinguish when VTEC engages?

What's up Matt!

It's very difficult to tell when VTEC engages in his car guys, but this light is sort of an ongoing project for us and we haven't gotten it to work yet.

I read a writeup somewhere, but I don't know where. I'll see if I can find it.

don't u just splice the positive wire into the wire leading out of the vtec solenoid? or just find out which pin it is on the ecu...i have to admit though, vtec light really does serve no purpose, its not like vital to know when it engages....VTEC JUST KICKED IN Y0!!!

either way, good luck :)

on the ecu it 'should' be a yellow w/green stripe wire.

I know that the wire on the 5th and 6th gen civics, honestly don't know much about the 7th gen, I'm not sure how much the "INTELEGENT variable valve timing" differs from the regular vtec. If your in Jacksonville and need any help, let me know, its been a long time since I've worked on a civic, and after working on my old one almost every day of the week, I kinda miss it

Just hit me up for my cell number :)
