Post subject:  =( Broken stud for VC

I would say this is due to overtightening, but it wasn't that tight at all. I was swappin valve covers this morning and when tightening down the nut on this one stud it just snapped, and I was left with a snapped stud =(. Is this driveable with the 3 tightend down until I can get it fixed, or not? And what the hell part number is that?

Thanks

I got ARP Head Studs when I went turbo, but those aren't the head studs are they? They don't look like them....can I get them from Honda?

yea, i might have to...

I know the stud goes into the cylinder head, but you dont have to take the head off to replace it do you??

Those bolts are SHIT!! They snap if you look at them wrong, anyway here is the part no.
(90012-PM7-000)

Should be like $4.00..........Also don't be afraid to boost on it, the bolt has absolutely no relation to the head studs.

The most you would get is maybe a little oil out the hole if you are seeing any blow-by on the build. In that case it would not be a good idea.

yea, ^^^ thanks guys.

I bought the bolt from honda before I went to work. I suppose the main purpose of it is to hold down one of the oil rails. I will fix it in the morning.

Thanks again!

i had a snapped one on my old civic for quite sometime...i swear those things need to only be like hand tight (i think the helms manual says like 10 foot lbs of torque), but you should be fine for the mean time
