Do dual overhead cam motors tend to produce more valvetrain noise then basic OHV motors? Is this common?

the acura I used to have, 1.8 DOHC (1990) had been ran low on oil, and now it ticks. I called up josh (tenchu) he says it could be a knock, since its such a small engine, what I would think of as valve noise on a V8 could actually be a knock. What do you guys think?

I think you shouldn't call tenchu for car help ;) Knock sounds nothing like valve noise. You would know if there was knock going on.

from every engine that I ever worked with that knocked, it wasn't a constant sound until it was seconds away from blowing. This is a very constant tick tick tick sound, that occurs all throughout the rpm range. Looked under the oil cap with a flashlight, saw the cam was scored, dont know if that makes a difference but I would assume its not good. If it is in the head on the car, any suggestions to what it might be? cam bearings?

there are no cam bearings, you probably just need a valve adjustment

I do... which is exactly why I told him not to listen to you. Given that you COULDNT FIGURE OUT WHEN THE MOTOR WAS BLOWN IN THE FIRST PLACE.
