I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Almost finished with my engine build.....

Post by EF'nJDM » February 24, 2006

Well I'm only another couple hundred dollars from finishing up my engine build and I can't wait. It's taken me almost 8 months to buy all the stuff but it's soooooooooo fucking worth it. Here's the setup I'll have:

-JDM Type-R block (stock pistons, rods, and crank)
-B16 head with less than 20,000 miles on it
-REV springs/retainers
-Inline Four bronze valve guides
-stock B16 valves (for now)
-Crower Street/Strip cams
-Skunk2 cam gears (or Toda's if my friend comes through)
-Mugen headgasket
-Endyn oil pump and breather kit
-TWM ITB's
-RC 440cc injectors
-AN-R header (still deciding on standard or compact version)
-Buddy Club Spec II exhaust
-ITR flywheel
-Exedy Stage 1 clutch
-Zdyne OBD0 ECU

Compression should be around 11.5:1 according to a few different B series compression calculators. BTW it's going into an 88 DX htachback and after I'm finished with the swap it's onto suspension/exterior! Comments/critcism welcome!

Also I forgot to add I'll be using a GSR cable transmission and Hasport mounts as well.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I'm trying hard as hell to document my build but it's hard when you don't own a digicam (I swear I'm still the onlyperson left on Earth without a digital camera) but I'll just borrow my friend's until I can buy my own one someday. Once I have all the parts together I'll take pics of my car and the engine build as it happens. Trust me though......

THIS WILL BE ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREATEST SLEEPERS EVAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's two pics I have of my car as of right now but more are coming someday:
Image Image That's the way the car is gonna look until I save up to have the car resprayed and get some wheels for it (I'll be buying them from either Takumi Project or Memory Fab when I'm ready) so for a few months it's gonna remain the fugly goldish tan color at stock ride height rolling on steelies.

*EDIT* I apoligize for the pic size but I suck at the Internet and have no idea how to resize :(

***UPDATE***

Well it looks like the engine will have to be postponed until I buy an entire new brake setup for my Civic. I'm buying all new rotors, pads, calipers, lines, drums, and shoes since I have to drive it daily now and the brakes on it are complete ass right now. Oh well another 2 weeks won't kill me :D

Awesome. Keep us updated.

Why'd you stay obd0 and not convert to obd1? The curbhopper is obd1.

Oh I'm eventually gonna convert to OBD-1 but for now my friend is selling the Zdyne ECU so I'm gonna run that for now until I have enough cash to convert to OBD-1.
