okay ... so here's the deal. I've had one built motor ... and it blew....
soooo no biggy ... you break one, you build another, right?
So one was built. It was tuned. 366 @ 14psi
Soooooooooo this brings us to today... a local DSM guy wants to race on the highway... So I'm game. He said he made 314 2 years ago, but i knew the car has since changed and was pretty fast car. It ended up he ran an 11.80 @ 126 on slicks, spinning a little.
So either way - we raced. He pulled maybe 2 cars total and i was creeping back.
Started in 2nd gear.... pulls fine
Shifted to 3rd gear ... pulls fine
Shifted to 4th gear .... throttle feels hollow, and doesn't pull at all
I immediately stab the clutch and coast/brake for a second before shifting to 5th to coast at highway speeds ... feels choppy and i happen to look up in the rearview ... smoke screen .... pull off the side of the road ... stalls out ... try to start, won't hold an idle. Pull the plugs ... #4 is toast ... detonation out the wazoo, the electrode is worn ... #'s 1,2 an 3 are okay.
Pop in new plugs HOPING it'll start and everything will go away haha ... well it doesn't ... it starts up, stalls ... i hold the gas steady and the vacuum reads a little choppy. I drive it home ... smoke screening the whole 2-3 miles.... right before i got home, it finally holds an idle as i coast into my driveway.... i shut it down ... and that's where it sits...
I just can't win with this damn thing....
. They have tuned numerous cars with no problems. It sounds more involved than the tune.
