ok i did a full build on my y8, and the head was built when i bought it. it has a crower stage 2 cam and springs and pep valves. mild port and polish. i just out a 16g on my engine and it pulls hard but not how it should. im running 2.5" turbo back exhaust. obx intake manifold with velocity stacks, 2.5" charge pipe. 30x8x3 fmic, tubliar turbo mani. so the flows good and even. i called hybrid and talked to dennis and he said to get that crower cam out of there and get a stock y8 cam. gimme opnions about this. "i belive him cause he does this shit daily but would too much lift cause a power loss like that." if the case is that i gotta get rid of the crower ill trade it for a stock y8 cam and $. please reply. |

I don't know firsthand. Denis has seen alot of sohc and dohc turbo motors so I'm going to believe him. Just because of lack of knowledge. |

get a zex 59300 cam, keep the crower gear if you got one, if not, you should get it. ive seen 430whp made on a d16 on a setup with the zex cam. |

listen to Dennis, he is correct. Crower stage2 cams are for an N/A setup. meaning way too much overlap. |

Timing it to stock spec isn't going to help. The cam needs to be adjusted on a dyno to show what degree of retardation or advance it will make the most power. Any aftermarket cam should be done this way, turbocharged engine or n/a. With a turbo cam on the other hand, they should be set to stock (no advance and no retard), or at least somewhere close to stock; to make the most power. |
