i was at west Penn auction sales today hunting down my friends old motor that we built at the shop last summer. it was a full build d16y7 with je pistons and eagle rods, y7 head 3 angle valve job over sized valves, and flow benched for a t3-t4 57 trim. this thing screamed. easy 400 at the wheels. but the kid who bought the car received it with no turbo kit and 9.1 comp with dsm 450's in it. it ran rich and he ran the shit out of it and blew the head gasket. cause ti was stock. i told my buddy to use a cometic and arp's but he didn't so, o well. any who. i talked to the guy and he said the engine "longblock" is at the local junk yard with a blow HG, so i went there and they said 50.00 for that blown motor i searched for a our or so and couldnt fint id in the junk engine pile. its there but buried. ill get it . forged internals and .20 over je's , and flowbenched head cant beat it for 50.00
back to my AE86 story, while i was there i spotted a odd car that caught my eye. first wors out of my mouth "while the guy was telling me about the motor" was holy shit!. hes like what? i was like thats a AE! hes like a what. "hes redneck so he dosent have a clue" that corolla he asked. i was like yeah. oh that was a yard car for there junk yard it ran good then just quit running one day. hes thinking alternator. batt was dead. so i asked how much and hes like make offer. "remember this thing is missing the front bumper and has dented front fenders. pretty rough shape but the interior looked pretty clean. and no rust on the unibody only on fenders." so i offered 100.00 and im waiting on a phone call back.
its a 5-spd and has a MPFI engine i think i didn't get alot of time to check it out. i was on a mission to find that built y7.
ill keep you guys posted on the deal for the AE,.
and if i get it. im going to do a full restore with KA swap. "why ka because i got a motor at the shop sitting there waiting to be used"
