Post subject:  i didnt think this scam was true....

a few months ago i read about some online scammers that hit up alot of the for sale forums....ill try to find a link...maybe i read about it here....or H-T...

http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=641985

scammers will act as interested in your items....inquire about them....sound very interested and want to purchase them...they say they will send a third party check from someone who owes them money (ex: a business associate, broker, banker ect.) the check will be for MORE than what your asking for your items...they ask for you to send them the remaining money that wasnt needed for the items....so you deposit the check into your account and send them the rest of the money...a couple days later the check bounces and you find yourself in the hole XXX.XX amount of money....

On to my story:

i am selling a set of EM2 14" HX wheels on ClubCivic.com...i get this email regarding them from a Ismail Usman.

the message:
Hello

I am interested in buying the 14" EM2 Hx wheels that you have placed for sale now, and I would want to enquire about the present condition of the above mentioned, as well as some detail about you. I expect this timely enough.

As for the payment, I would need you to get back in touch with the last asking price as I will be paying with a cashiers cheque.

Lastly, please forward to me your full company's (or house address, telephone and fax) details as I will subsequently prefer reaching you through these facilities.

Yours interestingly,

Ismail Usman.
i figure this is a scam letter becuase the description was cut and pasted directly from my post.

here is the link to my wheels:

I had this exact scam happen to me a year or 2 ago. I was selling a bike on a website for $3000 and some dude from another country said he wanted it, he called me and all that bullshit, there was some kind of translator or some shit between us, i'd speak and she'd connect to him and tell him what i said, then he would speak and vice versa. Ignorant cock sucker would call at like 5am, anyway, he says he wants the bike for sure and hes sending a cashiers check, he has the shipping company already set-up. I figured yeah yeah, whatever. So about a week later the check shows up in the mail, it was for around $5600, he said he made a mistake with the amount and to cash it, pay for the bike and shipping, and send the rest back to him. I called up the bank where it was from to verify it and they said its fake as shit. So assuming i wouldnt have called....i would have cashed the check, shipped the bike and the extra cash.....it would have been on its way and a few days later the bank would be calling looking for their money back. I still have the phony check, i'll get a pic of it and post it up. I fucked around with the guy and told him i cashed the check and that i didnt use his shipping company, that i found a better deal with UPS and shipped the bike certified with them to save him some money. He started to panic real bad after a few days of this and told me that i had to reverse the transaction...that he didnt want it anymore. Fucking low life waste of sperm.
