I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

USDM Style Car Shows in Japan

Post by Colin » May 07, 2007

i dont take any credit for this post, its from a guy named tragedy on ephatch.com, just thought id share and show :)

I've been doing a lot of reseach lately on the USDM
scene in Japan, and I've learned many things. I thought
I'd share some info with you guys and some pics. I found
tons of galleries and how-to's on how to convert your
car to USDM. Some of you may know that Hondas are not
popular in Japan among tuners, but they're popular
among USDM fanatics because, well, Hondas are popular
in the States.

Ever wonder what a your Japanese counterparts think of your
JDM-ized car? This thread should give you a good idea.
These are pictures from USDM-style car shows in Japan.
USDM JAM! is the biggest of these shows.

Your first reaction might be "WTF??? They look completely stock!!" or
"WTF?! That looks like the ricer that lives down the street from me!"
That's their reaction when they see you JDM guys' cars.

Keep in mind, some of these guys spent a TON of money
to convert their JDM cars to look like a USDM version
of their car in stock form. Others just imported USDM
Japanese car since nearly half of all Japanese cars
on the US market aren't even on sale in Japan. All the LHD
cars you see were imported into Japan.

Here's a rule of thumb when look at these pics:
The more these cars resemble the everyday boring
cars that you see in traffic here in the States,
the more money they spent to make it look that way.

Popular USDM mods:
Front leather bras (Bras aren't sold in Japan)
Black bumpers
Amber corners & reflectors
Chrome rims
American car dealership lic plate frames
Ribbon magnets (i.e, 'Support Our Troops')

Enjoy.

Below are a Scion tC and a Toyota FJ Cruiser,
neither of which are on sale in Japan. These
guys paid double what they cost in the USA
to get them to Japan.

We want our cars to look Japanesse,
They want theirs to look American.

I agree with Munster, take everything we don't want and trade it for everything we do. That would be the shit!!!
