well just like the title says Gel cell batterys (Holly Ahnialator), metal battery boxes in trunks, and freezing temps do not work. Thursday morning (19degrees) went out to my car and tried to start it, nothing but a clicking from the dash. So i checked the battery, dead. Charged the battery missed my 9:00 class made it to my 11:00 class got out of school started and went home Friday morning car wouldnt start same clicking checked the battery FROZEN. The battery had frozen cracking the case causing the gel to seep out of the crack. The $260.00 (130.00 old batt 130.00 new batt) lesson i have learned from all this is gels, metal boxes, and low temps dont mix. The new battery has a nice new jacket, i took an old blanket and cut it in half and lined the inside of the battery box with the blanket hoping to keep it a little warmer. wish me luck ![]() |

cool man good luck with that. i was going to say insulate the box with some of that underlay carpet foam stuff. that padded stuff they lay down before they lay carpet in houses. sometime u can get that stuff from a dumper at a carpet store. make sure u get it before the rain or weather gets to it. |
