I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Kill Switch How To

Post by ap_red97ek » March 26, 2009

i was just wondering if anyone knows how to wire in a kill switch that wont let my car start without the switch being on. Does anyone know whats best to wire into, ex. fuel pump, starter, ignition, ect.? And what is the best way to go about doing this?

Thanks in advanced to anyone that can help

Not the best article, but plenty enough information to get started.

If it's for security I would just put your fuel pump on a switch. Then hide the switch somewhere that you can get to it without straining.

the fuel pump was my first choice. i've been looking at how to do it and its really simple. the main reason i'm doing this is because i'm moving to Akron, Oh for the summer and on another forum i joined thats from Ohio always has people posting up that there car had ben stolen or that friends cars have been stolen or broken into and attemped to be stolen. i dont want that so i'm going to try and do what i can to prevent it from happening

Ok. I would definitely do something on the fuel pump. I looked into it before too.

What I read is to put it somewhere that you can flip it casually so if someone is watching they won't learn teh location.

yeah i have read that too. this might sound retarded but i've been trying it out when i get in and out of my car to see if its noticable. for the most part i think i've found a good location that wouldbe hard to pick out even if they were watching. plus i have all but my to font windows tinted so that might help hide my actions a little.

i also read that the best way to wire up a switch is too also wire in a relay so that there is no lose of/ or reducing in power supplied to the fuel pump. BUT i also read that the current flowing through the wire to the pump is 10 amps, so if to get a switch that has a 10 amp capacity or higher you dont need to have a relay. Anyone have an opinion on this?
