Post subject:  Valvecover redo

My buddy (kotoblue, if he ever decides to post) gave me a valvecover to replace my knockoff mugen. As I recieved it, it was light blue.
Image Image The paint that was used is the same that the block of the motor in his integra was painted. Only problem for me is that the paint is a super-durable polymer with a kicker of some sort and it's a bitch. This is after being hit twice with the "aircraft stripper" and also a pressurewasher, then being peeled on for an hour or so. bahhh.

So, anyone have any suggestions? I'm pretty much set on shaving the lettering off and smoothing it out. I'm thinking right now of just painting it satin black.

put the pressure washer like an inch away from it, should come right off :) and i'd paint it gunmetal  but that's just me cuz that's what i wanna do.

If you're going to repaint it and take the lettering off why not just sand the paint off then grind the lettering off?

Yep, I'll be grinding the lettering off. I had the pressurewasher right on the cover most of the time, I could only get it to blister. It's pretty strong/rubbery stuff, so sanding it off would be horribly tedious. I'm just gonna hit it with the stripper a couple more times and that should do the trick.

Looks pretty damn good. What paint did you use?

I'm looking to redo mine this summer with flamenco black pearl.

I'm using krylon black wrinkle paint, it turned out really nice, it's dry now so it has wrinkled up since the pics were taken. It was a bit glossy so I knocked it down with satin finish clear. It's pretty much stock looking except for the letters are gone.
