Are they the same part on both cars? Without zero knowledge of this "swap", and only basic restoration skills I think we can work this out for you. It will also be a good place to lay the foundation for a true "CSL style" carbon roof conversion.

-Removal of stock roof
-Preperation of both material surfaces
-Reapplication of another substance to the original area supporting the roof.

There used to be an AWESOME write up on this on HT, but the thread maker deleted it. Heres some info I picked up browsing around

One of the mods I looked at EXTENSIVELY was the glasstop. There are a few things that are missing from this thread.

Namely that even a glass shop could not and would not guarantee that they could remove the glass from a glasstop without scratches, breakage or damage to the seal.

If you destroy the seal, there are *NO MORE*. Honda Japan has discontinued them and they cannot be found. I know because I've been looking for 2 years and have only found ONE. Myself and a friend are working on trying to get Honda to make more but so far have been unsuccessful.

All the structural integrity for the glass roof is in the skeletal structure of the pillar portions beside the roof panel itself... the part you cut off. I know this because I have access to Honda Japan's parts EPC on the web, and searched *every* single part from floor to roof looking for differences between glasstop and regular and sunroof CR-Xs.

I talked to three different shops (2 of which have performed glasstop conversions) and they *all* told me that the only way to reliably install the roof is to cut it at the pillars and stagger it for install. One of the shops I talked to was the one that installed the glasstop and the Black Widow wide body kit on that silver CRX.

I have had a glasstop both ways. The metal roof panel from Honda (which comes how you have it cut) and the whole roof assy and have taken both to the 3rd shop locally. I played dumb, and they told me the same things that I am saying here.

Take it for what its worth... if yours worked out, then great, but I had to put my 2cents worth in here....

Here's a link describing the install method I have outlined here.

Heres another 'warning' about the interior temps,

Just thought I would warn you as a person who has an SiR with a glass roof. Its gets hotter than hell in the car when it sits out in the sun. Also the interior plastic becomes faded. Its like the green house effect in the car. I just went out to my car to get a bottle of water and 30min in the sun I had to open the door and let it vent out before I could even reach in for the water that is how hot it is. Also the water bottle was extremely hot and is now cooling in the office fridge.
