I signed up for Rangers but changed my mind last minute. Being Ranger you will most likely be ALWAYS deployed, lol. They only do 3mo deployments, but over and over and over again. SF is some lonnnnnng training.

But being deployed is gonna bring in serious bacon. Then you just buy the parts and put them on. If you are in an Infantry Division, like 82nd Airborne, you would deploy for a year then come home for at least 8 months. Plenty of time to work on a car. I have buddies who do it all the time.

Yeah, rapidly deploying units. I'm in one. They assume i'll only be back for 6mo before deploying again. God damn it.

Tenchu's right, tomo, if you go ranger or SF you're going to be gone a LOT. Hell, Tenchu was unlucky enough to get assigned to a cavalry unit so that's why he's going over so soon after graduating AIT. On the other end of the spectrum, I graduated AIT nearly a year ago and haven't gone over, thoght I am going to Kuwait for 6 months in April. Baker (jdmjedi) is in a non-deployable unit, which sucks for him because he really wants to go somewhere, both for the experience and the extra money.

Sean - Bingo. Civilian news outfits are biased beyond belief, and they all focus on Iraq too much. The US is involved in much, much more than Iraq.

Haha yeah, but hey atleast I might actually get something done to my cars getting deployed over and over again. Not that i'll be able to enjoy it much, lol. I'm seriously thinking of re-classing as MI after a couple deployments.

yeah, i think im gonna sign up for 4 years, be a ranger, buy an evo, and call it good. or something like that. im gonna try and see what other jobs i can get though, which will be pretty much anything because of my ASVAB score.

Also, why do you want to be a ranger so bad? Going into the army is going to a culture-shock of sorts already, but plunging headfirst into ranger...

just want to make sure you're not about to bite off more than you can chew.
