It's not as if the performance stock is wildly different.
It's not as if the potential modified performance is wildly different.
That's why something as secondary as exhaust note, interior/exterior styling, and brand loyalty matter.

If either were far superior, it wouldn't be a discussion.

performance minded? look at the sections that get the most posts around here... it sure as hell isn't anything related to engine tech. haha

I'm not saying there is no difference in the way they perform ... that's a given - but to the average person that's just going to drive the car from point a to point b, with something spirited mixed in there ... they're not going to REALLY tell, so any and all of those minor things are what's going to be the deciding factor. If you're going to track it, that's a different story...

personally, i'm done with the whole modification scene ... all i want is something that's not a turd monster, looks good and is reliable.

and while on the talk about looks, the new sti AND the new evo both look like crap.

agree'd on the new evo's and sti's sucking.

this is an endless conversation about what car is better. everyone is going to be bias on there make/model.

as far as the exhaust note. im not gonna say that im basing buying the car because of that, lol. i just think its sounds way better then an evo, again my personal opinion (im bias towards sti's) sure the evo makes more power but like toby said im not looking to spend 30 thousand on a car because of more power. im gonna spend 30 grand on a car i like to look at, like to sit in, and like to listen to.

to get back on topic. what could i get for my car? haha.

If I had Goldy and was selling her I would probably jump on 9k if it got offered. Solid body and paint. Swap is super clean. Advans + five lug + all of the other jdm parts. Part out would make you more money, but you would have a pain to return to stock. Get some CTR wheels, sell the advans, leave the 5lug on the chassis and get some teg seats and sell the interior.

As far as evo and sti. I like the Stis. I would only buy one of two if I was getting a car to have fun with and not turn wrenches on. Personally, 30k and up for a car...I'm not going to want to tear it apart. I'd throw wheels on it and be done with it. That's not me getting out of the scene either, and I'll also have my Civic till the day I die. If I don't put parts on it...it doesn't cost me money.

My next project isn't going to have front fenders, will have 8 cylinders, two turbos, and make four digit hp. Project car and daily driven should not go together.

+1 for the NEW EVOs and STis sucking. And +1 for them not being different as a DD. I guess I just meant when pushed hard. Track or west PA mountain road thrashing on Saturday mornings and you will notice a difference. I did. But we are getting off topic and I am very much to blame on this one....haha. I dont know what that car is worth actually. I guess it depends on if you find some kid who likes it and will pay for the motor swap and the JDM peices and what not. Might take a while around home but I am sure someone will give a fair price. Then get some new project car. Not something that will just sit. You gotta stay in the game...

i would rather sell out of state so i wouldnt have to see it.. ha. more then likely i would part it out. return it to stock for a daily. then do work on an sti. but this might not be for a few more years so the sti prices will drop a bit.

that's honestly probably your best option. I've kept every stock part for my RSX in a big huge box/shelf. Just because I know some year I'll get tired of the car and want something new. So I'll put it back to stock and either sell it privately, outright, or trade it in towards another car. Then I'll sell all the parts to whoever

This is probably 5 years out, unless I do decide to turbo the car, then I'm just going to keep it for as long as humanly possible and buy something to daily. Like, lease an RDX or something. Unless Honda makes a turbo TSX awd coupe, then I'll get one the day it comes out

In parting it out you could sell the interior put the 4 lug back on it, it wouldnt be that much work really then i could see you getting around 10-11 total and just leave the car swapped. It is so hard getting that much for a car that sold for that much stock 8-9 years ago. You have quality parts and a nice car you deserve to get a good offer on anything on the car.

On a side note and not to beat a dead horse I have been performance minded since i got into my civic in late 95 thats why it makes the power it does now, been there done that. I just look forward to having decent horsepower with luxury and comfortability. To each their own.
