for real though, I want something that is japanese, with a cheap aftermarket, and low cost to get into, I know that civics are good for that, what about nissan and toyota, what cars can I get for like 7k and and do some decent work on.

Honestly you should look for a '93+ Subaru Impreza coupe and balance the cost/quality as best you can. Then EJ20T swap it, and drive it all year. :idea:

I dunno, I have a '97 coupe and a '94 wagon. I'd think the coupe was released before then, but I've only looked into buying a '95 coupe, so I dunno. Good luck, the swapped coupes are worth checking out though.
