anyone ever import a car from japan?

there is alot of redtape to say the least, from what ive read and understand- the customs and dmv laws aernt an easy read- but it seems how you register it makes all the difference you can do normal, race, kit car and show. There are different stipulations for each and i havent found the way to do it but i plan on following this through and i might change my mind after i find out the total cost of importing and everything but they want around 20 g's for an imported type r civic over here and you can buy it there for like 7-8 easily, and there is about 2500 in shippiong then you got import taxes and duties and other stuff but they are making a nice profit but its alot of work so im not knocking the companies im glad that they are here to give people the option to buy one i just plan on doing it for myself i have sent in the forms to allow myself to be a registered importer and broker ill keep u guys updated, the laws are also different if you are importing for personal use and if you are planning to sell it so ill post up info as i find/ figure it out.

I am a network consultant and i got several clients that are lawyers and im going to get some help from them so its all legal and i need some help with intrepretation of the laws
