I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Suggestions for a new ride

Post by Hatcher » February 05, 2003

Hey guys, I'm looking into selling my 98 hatch, or trading it in. The only 2 cars I'm interested in are EG and EK hatches since thats all I can really afford. I love EK's since they have an upper grill, better door handles in my opinion, and I like the rear alittle more. The thing is... that OBD2 sucks ass. I was planning on getting i/h/e, carsound catalytic converter, and an ECU upgrade (not really sure on that). I guess my question really is do you think my car will be pretty slow with just a B18c1 swap and stock ECU? I just want to go all motor, anyways let me know what you guys think.

I'm not sure how reliable that is though, especially since I commute alot.

If you are going to be using it as a daily driver/commuter...a B18c1 will be plenty fast with just bolt on goodies. I've seen EKs and EGs run mid to low 14s with just a few bolt ons at this elevation (about 2500-3000 ft)

As soon as this stupid western PA snow begins to melt off I'll have a 98-2000 B18c1 in my 98 EK. As soon as we swap it I'm putting on a DC 4-1 header, no cat, plugs/wires, Aem cai, etc. The minor stuff. I'll let you know how it runs. Anything is better than those damn D16s.

LSD is a necessity. Finding it is another story.
