I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Car won't start

Post by akhlaq768 » August 30, 2005

Each time I start the car, I turn the key and the car won't start. You can hear that its trying to start but it doesn't. The brightness of the lights on the dashboard starts to fade, but after a couple of seconds it would start.

My first thoughts would be that the battery may need replacing - but I got that changed a couple of months ago.

The car is a Civic Coupe (1997) and has an alarm and immobilizor.

The following things I have checked or replaced.

Spark plugs (replaced)
Fuel filter (replaced)
Battery (replaced and hold charge)
No engine check light on
Engine oil (replaced)

I was told by a mate, if the car wont start again. Place the jump leads to the battery and the engine (for an Earth connection)

This time when I turned the key the car started. Was that due to the earth connection or luck.

What could be the problem?

Please help.

Try it a couple times, if it continually works, you probobly have a bad ground, maybe try replacing your ground wire, or terminal connector, you could also just try cleaning your ground terminal connector, that could be affecting the ground if it has a decent ammount of corrosion on it. Good luck!

The alternator and battery have been checked and they are fine.

What am I looking at when checking the Earth leads????

How much are there meant to be? I can only located 2 leads one coming of the battery terminal to the car and the other from engine to the car
