I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

Bogging engine when at part throttle

Post by Jaydium » July 02, 2006

Engine : B16A
ECU : PR3
Car : 1991 CRX Si

when from a light, ill let off the clutch and give it some gas, once the clutch is fully released, ill be at part throttle, and the motor seems to bog and then all of a sudden "kick" in and go...if i'm on the freeway, say at 70 in 5th gear, it will bog until i give it more than 1/4 throttle.. what is the problem here? ive been told to block off the o2 sensors but that only seems like the car would then be running rich. ive also been told that its just a common problem when converting obd1 into obo0, and ive also been told that it could be a "drying fuel pump"....the car has new plugs/wires/cap/rotor/fuel filter/fuel pressure regulator.
what is the problem? i dont believe its a timing issue, and the "drying fuel pump" doesn't make much sense to me, i was always under the impression that a fuel pump either works or it doesnt... so someone help me out here...thanks

You did the dpfi to mpfi conversion? What are your rpms at idle and at 70mph (roughly)? Throwing any codes?

bump because I'm curious if this was fixed. Like I said, this happens in my daily driver. Im beginning to become convinced it has something to do with my fuel system, most likely the fuel filter BUT we could have totally different problems.
