I'm excited to announce that thejdm is now updated to the latest phpbb 3.2 software. You may notice the site is now mobile friendly but with the upgrade comes some hiccups. theGarage, theGallery, theArcade are no longer supported. In due time the developers should be working to release the modifications to work on the new software. #LetsMakeForumsGreatAgain

hello, i'm getting my hands on a b16 and i have a blown gsr so i figured i'd put the cams in. im doing a full rebuild of the motor anyway. so another question is should i also use the crank? would this fit in the bottom end of the B16? from what i heard people usually put a b16 head on a gsr bottom and make a poor mans type r. but the gsr block i have is ruined except for the crank. so if anybody has any idea please lemme know. or should i just do an lsvtec? see i have a full ls swap and i wanted to build that for boost. but i dunno what to do!! help me. i suck at decisions. i really want two seperate motors....
thanks guys!!!

The crank will not work, the cams will.
Also, it's pointless IMO to boost an LSVTEC. Just boost a straight LS or a GSR.

What's all wrong with the gsr bottom end? Want to sell it?

you dont want it. the pistons are rusted to the walls. it would need re-sleeved plus it was over heated badly and it prob needs decked. i'm actually bolting a bad ls head on it and putting an empty gsr tranny case on it and putting it in place of the b16 motor. the car is goit to a junk yard it was wrecked. so no sense in wasting a b16 right?

Use the GSR crank and GSR sized rods in the LS bottom end. Then run your external VTEC oil line a la Endyn who does it on standard VTEC blocks.
That'll give you the 1.8L displacement of an LSVTEC but it will allow higher revs like a GSR to take advantage of the VTEC powerband.
I'm not happy unless you're not happy.
